13 mars I am coming to the States I just realized (while uploading the pictures) that we totally forgot to take any pics from anyone else than Julika. So I will try to change that. The other big news is that I will be in the States soon! I can't wait. 10 février SunshineDid you ever realize that whenever there is sunshine outside the mood is so much better? At least mine is. I feel like I finally came to the surface after diving underwater. Sunshine has something so powerful.
I just came home from church. Seriously, that church and especially the community there is worth so much to me. Again and again I feel as if that is more important to me than most other things, the community with people who also love christ. It feels as if each sunday refills my power-tank so to speak.
There is not much more to say for now. Have a great sunday yourself. 4 février This and thatSo my internet still doesn't work. It's unbelievable but the phone company just doesn't manage to get this set up, it's been like that since November. Other than that I am really enjoying being a stay-at-home Mom. I get the impression thought that's it causes some weird reactions, mostly people would rather see me going back to work than taking care of JJ. The main argument is that I might not get a chance to get another job since I only worked for a couple of years. That might be true, but I simply love watching JJ grow up. She's changing day by day and when she responds to my attention it's just so cute.
Finally we do have an oven at home. I was sick of eating microwave food for the last couple of months. Now I need to get into this work routine of cooking for Roger and me regularily instead of eating whenever I am hungry. Another big improvement is that we bought a table this weekend. I am so excited, maybe the appartement is going to be a place I can call home soon after all.
Despite all the foreseeing of friends I would sit around bored with a kid I cannot complain. Finally I have time to meet up with friends and cook and bake without hurry. I am loving it, it's almost like being an AuPair again.
There is not much else going on right now though. My sister is in the middle of her exams and would need 48hour days instead of the 24 hours she's got right now. So she could use a whole lot of prayer.
My brother started his drivers license. I guess it will be a lot more dangerous to drive on the streets with the possibility of meeting him on the road ;-). Ah well he just started but nevertheless he can have his license starting age 17 since this year. They changed the German law.
Roger and I are doing well. I am amazed at how easy it is with him and I am simply enjoying it. Unfortunately he's working a lot so we really only have about a day a week together. I hope it gets better someday but I am also glad his company is doing so well.
27 novembre Sleeping inHi there,
to not have an Internet connection at home is something I gotta get used to for now. I will have the Internet once I am all moved, but for now I need to find nice people that let me use theirs. Fortunately there's plenty of them.
I was supposed to go to Basel (Switzerland) today and tomorrow with my good friend Tamara, but I felt pretty exhausted yesterday and cancelled. But now, after sleeping for 12 hours this night and walking the dog, I feel ready for anything! And I won't get bored, there's still plenty of stuff to do left. Not to mention we haven't even started with the baby's room. Ah well, it won't notice whether the walls are painted or not and whether it's bed is at the right spot, so that's reassuring.
Yesterday I went to a 'cleaning party'. It's the same as the well-known Tupperware ones, but they clean your place (a bit) while they're there. It was fun and interesting but the prices are ways up there. I miss Southern Living and the Pampered Chef...
We finally started to put tiles in our kitchen, a project we had planned on doing for the last 3 months. Not done yet, but it's looking good.
Yesterday I hung out with Tamara, Andrea and their kids. Man, it's stressful to drive your kids from one place to another, just having some time for a cup of coffee until you gotta pick them up again. I hope it will be a bit more relaxed once mine is older, but I doubt it. The one good thing is that in Germany, Kids are actually able to walk to most places by themselves, depending on where the events take place. We'll see, but for now I am enjoying this sleeping in time, I have a feeling it'll take a while before I'll be able to do that again...
15 novembre This big belly of mineHi everyone,
it's been really weird to be at home and to not have the baby yet. I have so much time at hand but instead of using it, I watch ways too much TV. Well, it's nice to relax, too! And I am also moving to Rogers place, so I am packing and wrapping up things. I don't want to move out of my place at all, since it's so cozy and just looking like me but it's nonsense to have 2 appartements with the baby. I am excited and sad altogether. And I miss work but my body shows me my limits pretty clearly.
Other than that life is just as always. I've had Maeva, the little girl, quite often recently and can't believe she's in school already, since I remember her crawling all over the place as if it was yesterday.
This weekend my foodgroup "Anonyme Mitesser" is coming as well as my parents and Rogers parents. They're meeting for the first time and I really don't know what to cook yet since I am better at just cooking for 1 person rather than for 6! I better get used to that, though.
And most of all, I miss the States and all of you. I am still amazed at how much I am still in touch with people and overwhelmed at all those cute packages I got with babystuff. It's been over a year since I returned but I still feel as if Seattle is my true home and I need to face that I will probably stay in Germany longer than I thought now. On the other hand, Germany is beautiful, too. And thanks to Roger I've discovered more of Stuttgart the last year than I've seen of it my entire life. And he didn't even grow up here!
I hope I will update this more often now.
Karima was here for a visit just a month ago and we had tons of fun. Since I was at work during the day, Roger showed her around and she was also pretty unafraid to use the trains and busses to discover the area by herself. I hope to see her again, soon.
And Anne was here as well. She brought a friend and together they went down to see Karima for a couple of days. The weekends she did spend here, though. We are still in close touch and it's amazing to me, since she left the States at least a year before me.
And even Romy came by for a visit. She stayed for two days but we were both surprised it's actually not all that far from her to my place (measured by american distances of course). I hope to see her a couple of times more before she's moving to the States next spring.
Now I have pretty much exactly another month to go with this big belly of mine. I am curious how the little one will look like and if I will still be able to get some sleep within the next year, hehe. I hope it's not gonna come too soon since we haven't started with it's' room yet.

Today my sister came over and for the first time I spent a whole afternoon on my balcony, with icecubes in my drink and the sun-umbrella up. I mean I can't believe it's April and we're dying in this heat already.
All I can say is awesome!! 6 avril Jeus is risen!Today I did something I believe is only possible in Europe: I bought a Roundtrip airplane ticket Germany-France for 1 cent each way! Unfortunately and of course the airlines adds all kinds of fees to the ticket after so they ended up charging me 40 Euros. That's nothing! Oh yes: I am going to visit Karima in the beautiful south of France, in Cannes. For all those who don't know where that is: ever heard of the Filmfestival there? Not to forget all those palmtrees, the white sand beaches and the cliffs. And I'll even get to go to a wedding. I can't wait!
My sis and I got to go to the Musical, which resides here in Stuttgart, today. It's called 'The three Mousketeers'. My friend is one of their drummers and was on duty tonight, while we got to sit, watch, listen and enjoy. In my Albums you can find the pics. Both of us were keen on dressing up, since there are almost no other opportunities. That's a huge difference to the States. There I often dressed up for all sorts of reasons, here a wedding is almost the only legal reason to dress up. Sad but true.
Well, I wish you all wonderful and blessed Easter holidays! It seems as if the weather is going to be great on both continents. After having Friday off I will have to work on Monday since we'll be there for people in pain all over Stuttgart. That's one of my favourite workdays, since we'll have no regular patients...
Jesus is risen! 18 mars StingOn Monday I got to go to a Sting concert. Compared to other Sting songs I had previously heard, this concert was all focused on the lute, an istrument that sounds simliar to a harp and in my opinion needs a lot of skills to be played. Well, totally different from what he usually does, Sting performed songs that were written in times of Queen Elisabeth (Middle Age). Altogether the concert was a little boring unfortunately and something I had to get used to. Only once he performed the songs "Fields of Gold" and especially "Message in a bottle" the people started cheering and I must say, those songs were awesome with the lute! So altogther I am glad for the experience. Thanks to Tami, who had connections to the technicians, we got to go there for free and had phantastic seats!
This Saturday my boss gave me the possibility to go to a class in the most exquisite ambiente. I did learn a lot about how to create bills for dentures and crowns and I am glad I got to go, since I am a little unsure and still have to grow in my new job field. During the day we got treated as queens, fantastic service, cookies, coffee, fruit and delicious lunch together with a very good docent. It was not boring at all and I am sure it will help me at work!
4 mars Housewarming partyYesterday I finally had my housewarming party. I didn't do it earlier since I didn't get the impression of my place being all moved in yet. Ah well I've decided that I will never reach the status 'done' with it since I like to move furniture around and redecorate. So I ended up having 22! people in my place. It was a ton of fun though, especially since everybody decided to join in the Potluck and bring something. Thanks to everybody for coming!
Last wednesday I had the joy of watching an Improv Show in our local theater. Since my church is right next to it I had seen that place for years but never went. But since Barbara invited me to join her work-team, I got to go this time. And it was fun. It's really different from normal theater though and I think it's not my most favourite kind of theater but we did laugh nonstop
 .And since it's been a long time since Mike was here I will again refer you to his link below since I am unable to describe his time here better than him. I will not even try. He's a exceptionally gifted writer.

4 février AmazedI think I've got the most wonderful life there is. More and more I feel that way. I've just had so many experiences in my life and it doesn't stop! Oh well. Many times I am also amazed that people, that I really like, like me back the same way. I had sent out the email about my new address and phone and the responses were just sweet, I think that might be the reason I feel that way. Anyway, just wanted to share that.

It's the first snow this season and the first real snow for me in a while since Seattle didn't have much of it while I was there either. And it's a lot of fun to dug through it with the mountainbike as well. I hope it's going to stay for a bit.
Yesterday I ran into a couple of people I hadn't seen in years, it was great! I love being in Stuttgart, where I just know my way around and know all those people. Even after being gone for two years I do not fell as if that made any difference with the friendships I have here.
Right now I am trying to get internet and a phone at my place, so that I can feel like a human being again .21 janvier My new placeI am finally adding something here - sorry it took me so long!
As you can see on my pics I just moved into my own place. My sis and I were painting the walls - and got the most different opinions. But after being in the States I learned that strong colours are not neccesarily bad but add a lot of personality to a room. And I got so many things (curtains, clothes, furniture, kitchen stuff) from other people, I ended up not having to buy anything and have everything. I am so blessed with all the people around me. It's been two weeks since I moved and a wonderful time so far. Of course I've had plenty of guests and I hope I will have many more since I now have the space to host.
Yesterday my relatives (grandparents, uncle and aunts) came for some coffee and cake. And as you should know by now, this is the highlight of a day
 . I don't know how I ended up with relatives like that, but I love them all. And we had a great time! Even Meava, my little babysitting girl, was with us and decorated the muffins and the table. 24 décembre *Merry Christmas*Finally it's christmas. Honestly, I am not quite the biggest fan of this time of the year, but I do enjoy the three days (we get the two days after christmas off in Germany) with my family. It's as if everything slows down for at least a little bit and one concentrates on family and Christ. This is my my first christmas in Germany in two years and I like it a lot better here (concerning the commercial side of it). But I also do miss being in the States, seeing the outdoors decorations and lights and of course celebrating with the Garlands.
I have my first vacation after working for a whole 3! weeks at my dental office. But since I now found a place it's the perfect time. I will be able to move and maybe paint. Thinking about my new place makes me all excited. In my head I am moving furniture, paint the walls and decorate. I can't wait!!! And once I am all done, you're all invited to my moving-in party. I am planning on having it sometime in January or Febuary. It will be nice to host again.
Speaking of which, Erik, a friend of my sisters from Sweden times (Holsbybrunn) came to visit. He arrived the beginning of December, stayed here for a bit and then travelled around (he also knows the owner of my motorcycle, and since Nano lives in Germany now, went to see him as well as swedish Daniel, for all those who know him). Last week he came back again for almost a week. I was amazed how well he knew his way around and how independently he went dowtown and travelled. It was good having you here, Erik! (It seems as if he got hired to build a ropes-course in Bavaria. Somehow all those Americans who come over here for a visit end up moving permanently, it's pretty interesting to see this pattern repeat over and over again.)
Tonight Jenny, a dear, dear friend I've known since school, invited me to join her for a
"Soehne Mannheims" (sons of Mannheim) concert. I didn't expect much and was even more surprised at how well they played and how great the music was. I haven't been to a concert in quite a while and it was a wonderful evening.
For all those who didn't know about it: I am back working at the dental place I worked at before. It's been 5 years now that I first started working there. And I still so enjoy my work. It might be that I have a wonderful boss who also is my neighbor for right now. The highlight last week was that I got to ride his scooter all the way to downtown!!

 9 décembre Holsby and new appartementLast week Conny came over from Tuebingen. After missing my train I had already spent the previous night in Tuebingen, not knowing that it was right next to her. I hadn't seen her for almost 3 years and it was nice to spend all evening with her. We even got to sit in an officially closed bar, they let us in anyway. Conny and I were classmates starting in elemantary school and are still quite close. And even after having known each other for that long - almost 20 years now - we still like and appreciate each other. It's amazing to me. With her and one more we've decided to gather the elementary school students together to have an alumni meeting soon. I can't wait.
Last week Erik was here. Erik was a fellow student at the bibleschool in Holsby together with my sister and decided to stop by. I'm always glad to speak english and meet people that have been to Holsby. Especially since he knew some mutual people. One of those was Nano, the owner of my motorcycle. He's in Germany right now and I was originally going to drive up to see him together with Timo and Erik, but unfortunately we decided to have family pics taken this weekend and I therefore had to stay at home.
Right now I am in the middle of looking for a place. It actually looks like I've found one already! Tami, a good friend of mine is moving out and needs somebody to move in. And I think it would be perfect. Tonight I am meeting with the landlords - maybe by tomorrow I'll have an appartement... |
